World Cup Qatar 2022: Qualification / Elimination Scenarios - Groups C & D

With the final Match Day for Groups C & D held today, let’s look at the possible qualification and elimination scenarios for each nation.

Group C

For Qualification for the Round of 16

• 🇵🇱 Poland will QUALIFY for the Round of 16 if:

  • They WIN or DRAW vs Argentina OR;

  • They lose vs Argentina AND Saudi Arabia WINS by less than 3 goals goals, OR Mexico WINS by less than 4 goals

• 🇦🇷 Argentina will QUALIFY for the Round of 16 if:

  • They WIN vs Poland OR;

  • They DRAW vs Poland AND Saudi Arabia DRAWS vs Mexico, OR Mexico WINS vs Saudi Arabia by less than 2 goals

• 🇸🇦 Saudi Arabia will QUALIFY for the Round of 16 if:

  • They WIN vs Mexico OR;

  • They draw vs Mexico AND either Argentina or Poland WINS by 3+ goals

• 🇲🇽 Mexico will QUALIFY for the Round of 16 if:

  • They WIN by any score vs Saudi Arabia AND Poland WINS vs Argentina OR;

  • They win by 3+ goals AND either Poland or Argentina WINS, OR both teams DRAW

For Elimination from the World Cup

• 🇵🇱 Poland will be ELIMINATED from the World Cup if:

  • They LOSE by any score vs Argentina AND Mexico WINS by 4+ goals OR;

  • They LOSE by 3+ goals AND Mexico WINS by any score

• 🇦🇷 Argentina will be ELIMINATED from the World Cup if:

  • They LOSE or DRAW vs Poland AND Saudi Arabia wins OR;

  • They LOSE vs Poland by 3+ goals AND Saudi Arabia draws, OR Mexico WINS by any score OR;

  • They LOSE by any score AND Mexico WINS by 3+ goals

• 🇸🇦 Saudi Arabia will be ELIMINATED from the World Cup if:

  • They LOSE vs Mexico OR;

  • They DRAW vs Mexico AND Argentina WINS or DRAWS vs Poland

• 🇲🇽 Mexico will be ELIMINATED from the World Cup if:

  • They LOSE or DRAW vs Saudi Arabia OR;

  • They WIN vs Saudi Arabia by 1-2 goals AND Argentina DRAWS or WINS vs Poland by 1-2 goals

Group D

For Qualification for the Round of 16

• 🇦🇺 Australia will QUALIFY for the Round of 16 if:

  • They WIN vs Denmark OR;

  • They DRAW vs Denmark AND France WINS or DRAWS vs Tunisia

• 🇩🇰 Denmark will QUALIFY for the Round of 16 if:

  • They WIN vs Australia AND France WINS or DRAWS vs Tunisia OR;

  • They AND Tunisia BOTH WIN AND Denmark scores more goals

• 🇹🇳 Tunisia will QUALIFY for the Round of 16 if:

  • They WIN vs France AND Australia DRAWS or LOSES by a smaller deficit than Tunisia’s victory, OR Tunisia finishes with more goals than Denmark

• 🇫🇷 France: N/A - Already Qualified

For Elimination from the World Cup

• 🇦🇺 Australia will be ELIMINATED from the World Cup if:

  • They LOSE vs Denmark OR;

  • They DRAW vs Denmark AND Tunisia WINS vs France

• 🇩🇰 Denmark will be ELIMINATED from the World Cup if:

  • They LOSE or DRAW vs Australia OR;

  • They WIN vs Australia by a smaller margin than Tunisia (if they win vs France)

• 🇹🇳 Tunisia will be ELIMINATED from the World Cup if:

  • They LOSE or DRAW vs France OR;

  • They WIN vs France AND Australia WINS vs Denmark OR;

  • They WIN vs France by a smaller margin OR score less goals than Denmark (if they win vs Australia)

• 🇫🇷 France: N/A - Already Qualified for Round of 16
